Good Charlotte - Good Morning Revival:
Year 2007.
Music Genre: Rock/Punk.
Album Info: Fourth album from the brothers Madden sees them continuing to head in the 80s synthpop-inspired direction they exploredon 2004's 'The Chronicles Of Life And Death'. This time, however, there is some more mature songwriting and a darker tone to the lyrics, suggesting the boys have grown up somewhat. Includes the single 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl' and an attempt to connect with the metal crowd with rawer, chunkier guitars and a guest appearance from members of Avenged Sevenfold on 'The River'. Review: Good Morning Revival, the 4th Studio album from Good Charlotte, includes the hit singles 'Keep your hands off my girl' and 'The river'. The album is about a new beginning for the band as a whole, it has a much more 'grown up' feel to the lyrics and the production of the music itself is more advanced this time and you can tell that the band went all out to produce some of the best work they have ever done. Some of the songs that stand out on the album are: 'The River' is a song that sounds incredible from the start to finish, the songs about a person looking at they're own life and trying to redeem themselves from all the bad things that they have done in life, the song is really fast paced and very catchy, also featuring M Shadows and Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold, also the album has a really mint solo in it which in the past hasn't always worked for Good Charlotte but this time they hit it spot on. 'Dance Floor Anthem' a really well written piece, the song is about a person that's trying to get the girl but not succeeding so he puts his hands up and says 'i don't wanna be alone' its has a really nice sound to it, the vocals by Joel Madden really work well too, the song is a good chill out song to listen to. 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl' this song talks about Joel Madden's ex-girlfiend Hillary Duff when she was being stalked by someone and Joel is telling this person to back off, the song is good but it's not Good Charlotte its just a threatening gansta sounding song that's week lyriced but will get stuck in your head defiantly shouldn't have been the 1st single to release off the album. 'Victims Of Love' again a really powerful and emotional song that's saying that everyone in live is at 'loves' mercy and that all we crave for in life is love, the guitaring adds to the power off the whole song which really works well and again a really great well written song eg: 'Everybody’s hurt somebody before, everybody’s been wound by somebody before, you can change, but you’ll always come back for more, it’s a game and we're all just victims of love' 'Break Apart Her Heart' starts off incredibly well the sound and drums really gives a good intro to the song, its a love song that's telling a story of how to keep your girl is to break her heart, (cruel to be kind) the vocals are good in this song as the Madden twins echo each other, and the guitaring is brilliant, it will really get you singing along to and defiantly one of the best songs off the album. 'All Black' this song is just a description of a broken persons soal, 'take a look at my life, all black' its the darkest sounding song off the album, really catchy, the lyrics tell the story of a person that's lost hope and all he see is the darkness inside. Again very catchy and even has a mini solo in it. 'Broken Hearts Parade' we all know that the title is a bit controversial since Good Charlotte's album was released after My Chemical Romances 'The Black Parade' but the song is nothing related to it. The song is suppose to be a parade of people who have been broken hearted, the song kicks off with something different for the band, a chant, 'OH, OH, OH, OH, OH, OH, here we go!' again this goes back to the bands punk roots more. Other songs to look out for on the album are all the others really because this album is just again an incredible album from start to finish, towards the end are some beautiful written songs like 'March On' and 'Something Else'. If you loved all of Good Charlotte's songs this album will really make you fall in love with because it has maybe one week song 'Keep your hands off my girl' but other than that the album is awesome and really worth a listen to a 'must buy'. Sound mix: 10/10 Likability: 9/10 Re listen value: 9/10 Rock-Reviews rating: 9/10.
