Good Charlotte - The Chronicles Of Life & Death
Year: 2004
Music Genre: Alternative/Punk
Album Info: Chronicles of Life and Death is the follow-up to Good Charlotte’s breakthrough, The Young and the Hopeless. Packed with catchy punk-pop, the album is available in two versions, Life and Death which include the bonus songs "Falling Away" and "Meet My Maker". Review: 'The Chronicles Of Life And Death' is the 3rd album from Good Charlotte, this time they decided to take a more darker approach to the songs, this time displaying more emotion but with some old school punk mixed in, but with much better guitar and lyrics makes it a well crafted album, with songs such as: Walk away (maybe) which is very raw and aggressive with some brilliant guitar, singing about someone that's scared to face the truth and finding it easy er to walk away from the problems rather than facing them up front, SOS sings about a person desperately crying out for help, feeling trapped by the pressures of life, and finding it easyer to give up, very catchy lyrics and some really good guitar and a brilliant solo, one of the most underrated songs off the album in my opinion, Predictable, the first single to be relised from the chronicles of life and death talking about a person who's loved and lost, speaking that it was too good to be true and knowing that something would go wrong eventually, very powerful and raw song, with Joel madden screaming down a telephone in the video you know its good! The album has bouncy punk songs like, I Just Wanna Live, a song which is just saying that you shouldn't worry what others think and just enjoy your self, and the guys certainly prove it in the video by dressing as random fruits and vegetables and i have no idea how these guys got the high parts to the song because its impossible for a guy, never the less a great track (find it on Singstar Popworld, if you fancy your chances) The Chronicles Of Life And Death, brilliant track very basic but it works well, talking about new beginnings, very catchy and full of life and the world is black again like the chronicles its simple yet meaningful, just telling you how confusing life is its very catchy again and full of life. The two emotional songs on the album by far are 'The Truth' which is just Joel singing his heart out, wanting to know the truth instead of all the lies its better to know than to be left in the dark, the first time i heard this i was very touched inside, i just thought wow, this is amazing and for such a underrated song it had to be one of the best, just a guy, a piano and a steady drum beat could make an incredible song, the other one is 'We Believe' singing about all the suffering in the world and it shouldn't be divided into races, rich or poor, and that they believe that somewhere in the world there is love and caring for others and that its time for a new beginning where everyone is equal, this is by far the best song off the album, with brilliant guitar, and soft vocals from the madden brothers. So basically if you like your songs with some emo, or some punk and you liked good charlottes other work i really do recommend this album to anyone, these guys are very underrated in my opinion and should be given the opportunity to show you, the songs they relised are always the weeker ones of the album and i'm sure if you listened to them you would change your mind.
