Greenday - American Idiot
Year: 2004
Music Genre: Punk Rock.
Album Info: Produced by Rob Cavallo, American Idiot is not only Green Day's most ambitious album to date, but also perhaps one of the most audacious efforts in the history of punk. 'American Idiot' is an expansive and intimately crafted concept album, detailing the alienation and disillusionment of the American citizen under Bush's post-War On Terror administration. Review: American Idiot, one of the most anticipated albums of 2004, from one of the most successful punk bands in rock history, it sold over 6.4 million records world wide. I absolutely loved this album and still today it has been one of my favioute albums ever, im my view i think it was Green Days best album, and most definately Billie Joe's best song writing hes ever done. The album displays everything you could want in it, blending political context with emotion and power, with songs such as 'American Idiot' which is basically saying that america is brainwashed by the junk thats on tv, its definately one of the catchyest songs off the album with lots of bouncey riffs, a killer solo and an all round cool headbanging tune for anyone whos up for moshing all night long, 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' displaying lots of emotion for Billie as he wrote this song in tribute to his father that passed away and hes never forgot the hurt and loss, again just an outstading song with the most coolest into to it. 'Holiday' agian a politial song that is bubbley and catchy, i think its about the current wars that are going on in the world and were the sufferers of the pain that the government causes, it displays lots of meaning as does all the songs on the album. Two of the most amazing songs off the album are 'Bulevard of broken dreams' and 'Jesus of Surburbia' i love them so much because the Jesus of Surbirbia song is a mix of emotions that Billie went through in lifeand alot of people respect that and the fact that it reminds themselves being victimized because of how they dress and live their lives and i think it means alot to people hearing it come out of a song, also it has one of my favourite song quotes: 'I dont feel any shame i wont appoliogise, when there aint noware you can go, running away from pain when youve been victomised, tales from another broken home' just displays alot of meaning to me. 'Bulevard Of Broken Dreams' is another fantastic song off the album portraying lots of emotion to people, i think its a song about people that are alone in the wold with hollow lives, feeling empty and knowing that your suffering just being alive, its a brilliant song with insane guitar playing and powerfull lyrics. Not forgetting songs like 'St Jimmy' which is bubbly, fast paced and full of adrenaline and 'Are We The Waiting' which is the ultimate Green Day power ballad, good for throwing your arms in the air and having a good sing along. This really isnt an album you can go wrong with, so if your looking for an album packed with emotion, political meanings, love, war, outstanding lyrics and awesome guitar playing, i strongly recommend this album to anyone who has a strong passion for good music and i assure you wont be dissapointed with the result, what an album for me it was all i could ask for an a whole lot more, also i await the new album with great anticipation, i have hope that it will be just as great as American Idiot but i seruously doubt it as this album is serously unbeatable.
