Hellogoodbye - Zombies, Aliens, Vampires, Dinosaurs.
Year: 2007
Music Genre: Pop-Synth Rock
Album Info: Like that attention-getting title, Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!, this Huntington Beach quartet brings on the musical exclamation points. Following a self-titled EP in 2004, Hellogoodbye debuts with a sugary dose of synth-pop. Then, once you think you've got the foursome figured out, they put Jesse Kurvink's hyperactive keyboard playing aside for mandolin-bedecked ballad "Oh, It Is Love" ("Baby, It's Fact" is another rare mid-tempo tune). The group is rounded out by Marcus Cole (bass), Chris Profeta (drums), and Forrest Kline (vocals, guitar). According to the liner notes, all songs were written by Mr. Kline... and his dog. Review: The first full length album from the pop-synth Californian Hellogoodbye, the album is full of energy from start to finish blending pop sounding synthesizer effects with just that tad guitar thrown in for power, Hellogoodbye are renound for their energetic and fun filled live shows and randomness on stage. songs that stand out on the album are: Here (In Your Arms): Probably the most popular song off the album and the song that brought hellogoodbye into the mainstream music, its a pop love song, full of energy, synthesizer effects and a real fun loving effect to it which will make you wanna dance and sing along to, the feel to the song sounds like it should be played in Hawaii, it has a very summer evening feel to it. Oh, It Is Love: A catchy love song that's played using the awesomeness of a banjo, full of cheesy lyrics which just makes you wanna get up, wave your hands, jump and dance about too all night long, especially since this song is only played on a banjo it has a really nice feel to it which was executed well with the synthesizer effects in the background. Baby, It's Fact: again another love song full of high energy, catchy lyrics, which starts off mellow but kicks in with a good beat and not forgetting the banjo, the song again is a classic sing-a-long to enjoy many a nights in with your loved one. Touchdown Turnaround (Don't Give Up On Me): the song most popular played by the band in 'fruit' costumed dancing about on stage. It is really upbeat, full of energy and probably the most catchy song off the album, with some bouncy riffs which makes you wanna dance about like a fruit. other songs to look out for: Figures A & B (Means You And Me) I Saw It On Your Keyboard. So if your looking for an album which is with uplifting beats and lyrics then it's well worth a listen though its nothing amazing in terms of strength within the songs, it makes up for it with plenty of effects, bouncy riffs, catchy lyrics and high energy leaving you smiling and dancing about like a loony.
