After 3 years since HIM’s last album and the disappointment that followed, the band certainly had allot of making up to do to prove that they have not lost their talent and ultimately their fan base. On March 13th 2010 HIM came to Norwich in support of their latest album Screamworks: Love & Theory In Practice the album to show us that HIM are back, stronger & better than before... The show kicked off with the support of Dommin - an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California consisting of Kristofer Dommin on vocals and guitar, Billy James on bass, Konstantine on keyboards, and Cameron Morris on drums, the band came on with little reaction from the fans and played some amazing songs such as: ‘My Heart, Your Hands,’ ‘Dark Holiday’ & Cutting Crew’s ‘(I Just) Died In Your Arms Tonight’ The band really worked hard to show us what they were about and it felt as though they earned more respect because they didn’t try and build relationships with the crowd or waste time chatting and by the end of their set they had a fantastic reaction from the crowd who where dancing & singing along to the dark love songs the band played. It certainly felt like the band played their hearts out to show us who and what they are about, ultimately turning allot of people’s heads and interest to find out more. After the long awaited anticipation HIM made their way onto the stage and really getting things moving with the epic single ‘Like St Valentine’ from the latest album which was preformed live incredibly from lead singer Villie Valo, who also through the evening proved that the rehab he had worked well because he was very much aware of what he was doing and was smiling allot looking like he was enjoying himself through the evening , the crowd also showing the band some of their moves as the circle pit’s where in full motion. The band didn’t really speak allot to the crowd and instead kept the evening flowing with the bands big hits such as ‘Rip Out The Wings Of A Butterfly’ ‘The Sacrament’ ‘Heartkiller’ & the epic finale with the explosive ‘Funeral of Hearts’ which just extracted the roar emotion and heart the band is renowned for with the real eerie feel that goes with the songs. Ultimately HIM felt firm and very much alive with their performance with some amazing guitaring from Lindie (Daniel Lioneye) and some incredible vocal work from Villie Valo, the sound was very much nailed from the UEA this time but was a little disappointing that the lighting work was very much basic apart from the last song in which they had lights beaming on a disco ball. The show definitely proved the band are back in full swing and will be interesting to see how the tour progresses and the music in future years. 7/10
