Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Year: 2001
Music Genre: Alternative/Punk
Review: Jimmy Eat World are one of the worlds most underrated bands ever, very down to earth , normal guys that just love to write songs and have a good time, they have been around for many years and have been pumping out emotional songs on every album but the album that stands out the most for them was Bleed American, the band had dropped their record label after allot of different things the record company wanted them to do with the music at that point the band ironically produced the most amazing album they had ever done. The album goes through allot of emotions, from happy - to heartbreak - to love. Bleed American: the title track to the album has such a edge to it, fast, catchy and is very upbeat. The song has a very powerful guitar opening and keeps itself building through the song, a real one to dance and sing along to also it has a very aggressive feel to it making it one of the most popular off the 'Bleed American Album. The Middle: is ultimately a real 'feel good' song expressing allot of possitivity within the lyrics eg: 'Hey, Don't Right Yourself Off Yet, It's Only In Your Head You Feel Left Out Or Looked Down on, Just Try Your Best, Try Everything You Can. It is also really upbeat within the music. Another one off the album to dance and go crazy too, a song that is also very popular and one of the most requested at 'Jimmy' shows. One floor the band says they wish they could chance about the song is to cut out the solo because it's not really fitting to the 'pop rock; style of the song. Hear You Me: Possibly the best song by far off the album, it's beautifully written and played on the acoustic guitar with a lovely piano interlude, very emotional and really well sung. The lyrics are musically a masterpiece bringing so much emotion to the point the band are expressing. The lyrics give off the impression the songs about forgiveness, it really keeps you interested and thinking how the song came about. Other songs to look out for on the album: A Praise Chorus The Authority Song Sweetness Basically Jimmy Eat World were in all honestly way ahead of their time when this album was written they really do define the 'emo' scene how it should be portrayed: Fun, Positive Well Written and packed with so much heart. Anyone who has heard this band will surely give you a high rating for this band because really they should be up there with the likes of Greenday and My Chemical Romance but as they still try to make it to the top they remain 'Un sung heroes' but to those who have heard them they will always be a masterpiece of a band. For fans of: Greenday, The Killers, My Chemical Romance. Sound mix: 9/10 Likability: 10/10 Re listen value: 8/10 Rock-Reviews rating: 9/10.
