Kerrang - Relentless Tour
Year: 2010
Music Genre: Screamo/Metal/Pop-Punk
The Kerrang and Relentless tour 2010 featuring 4 bands from the USA to Wales touring around the UK, bands featured this year are as follows: The Young Guns My Passion The Blackout All Time Low 2010’s line up appeared to have been a very random one, bringing a wide variety of bands and music genres, the evening felt like a very unorthodox one whilst being blasted with 3 bands that spent most of the evening screaming to the crowd then to a totally different scale with the headliners All Time Low coming on stage playing some very light hearted pop-punk to end the evening. The Young Guns – The UEA didn’t do this band any favours as the sound levels were all over the place and the whole bands set just felt like allot of distorted noise, the crowd seemed to have spent the set, moshing and crowd surfing all over each other with the occasional circle pit thrown in. Although the band tried to get them onside, unfortunately the lack of enthusiasm from anyone made this a very droned and time wasted set. My Passion – Had to have been given credit for being so relentless with their set as throughout most of it they spent being hurled alot of ‘All Time Low’ chants and varied hints to get off the stage. Through this the band tired harder but still did not come over big enough to be playing venues like the UEA yet. They also appeared to have been a darker gothic version of My Chemical Romance and although they again tried to get the crowd on their side, most of the time they spent playing to the few fans at the front of the stage. The Blackout – The first band of the evening that actually got the crowd really going, playing out some of their really screamy hits which seamed to have impressed alot of people, the band could have come over a bit more likable if they laid off the screaming and actually focused on the music they were playing as under the annoying sound some good guitaring was actually being played. The band also gave a very friendly vibe during songs when they had banters with the crowd. All Time Low – The evenings most anticipated band, after playing the waterfront in late 09 standards had been set high and the question remained would they be able to for fill the UEA? By the level of cheers & screaming from the fans they definitely played their hearts out and really came across as a very friendly fun loving band. Rocking out hits from ‘Damned if I do ya (damned if I don’t) ‘Weightless’ & ‘A Party Song (walk of shame) from their latest record ‘Nothing Personal’ really giving it their all and playing to the crowed 100% perfect. The sound levels were spot of this time and you could really hear the difference, the band made a very slow and painful evening into an amazing feel good vibe & ultimately proving the way in which music should move forward to. 5/10
